If you have 12 kids each one will not get a new car, they will wear hand-me-downs, and you will be using cloth diapers. Most of your income will go to low-emission goods like food. Also, it will be hard to educate all those children, so they wont get as good jobs, further reducing their ability to produce carbon emissions.

Look at the data presented in the article itself: it takes 91 Bangladeshi babies to produce the same carbon footprint as one American baby.Jason (the commenter)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16045360562791361484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4464222071440015933.post-26353357092770707532009-09-16T21:49:44.017-04:002009-09-16T21:49:44.017-04:00Why would having a kid each year reduce carbon emi...Why would having a kid each year reduce carbon emissions?John Althouse Cohenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11703450281424023177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4464222071440015933.post-35214431952762926762009-09-16T21:47:45.555-04:002009-09-16T21:47:45.555-04:00In the West we barely replace ourselves as it is. ...In the West we barely replace ourselves as it is.

Besides, I think the author has it backwards. If we did away with birth control, our standard of living would fall dramatically as would our carbon emissions.

So, if you want to reduce carbon emissions, have at least one kid each year.Jason (the commenter)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16045360562791361484noreply@blogger.com
