Do sex and violence in pornography and other media lead to more or less rape and violence in real life?

Some data.

I'm not surprised. There's a long history of people blaming things for destroying society (religion, alcohol, gambling, comic books, television, the internet) that never seem to amount to anything.

I have to imagine the people who like violent video games know they wont have access to them in prison, and that if they are in prison that they'll miss out on all the new games, which are always getting better. Does real life violence always get better, or always have all the gore of a video game?

Plus, just like after-school programs, video games keep potentially violent people off the street and give them something enjoyable to do.

How much more prone to violence do people become when they are bored?
